Farlam Hall, one of the UK’s most romantic country house hotels in Cumbria, is an idyllic Valentine’s Day retreat, celebrated for its exceptional culinary offerings under the expert guidance of Chef Patron Hrishi Desai.
This February 14th, the twelve-course Valentines Day Tasting Menu offers a memorable gastronomic journey that begins in the hotel’s stunning gardens.
The kitchen gardens are at the heart of Farlam Hall’s culinary operations, providing fresh produce for the Michelin-starred The Cedar Tree.

Farlam Hall’s knowledgeable and professional team, the ‘storytellers’ at the hotel, have curated the menu to reflect the special holiday, giving nod to classic French cuisine.
The menu starts with delectable snacks, such as poached oysters with apple cream and cucumber pearls, to Duckliver ‘Torchon’, rhubarb & cardamom, and a classic Wiltshire Truffle soup ‘Vge’.
Inspired by Chef Paul Bocuses’ infamous Soupe aux Truffes, VGE, this dish pays homage to the French President, Valerie Giscard d’Estaing and sets the scene for the mains to follow.

Guests will enjoy Flying fish’s Atlantic Halibut, accompanied by Cornish crab meat, enoki mushroom ragout, and tarragon oil, which will be sure to showcase the artistic mastery of Chef Hrishi Desai.
To finish the savoury dishes, the Roast salt aged duck breast with confit leg fritter, pistachio, and chutney sauce, showcases a fusion of classic French techniques and Chinese cuisine. For those wishing to cleanse the pallet following the exquisite menu offerings, enjoy a Lemon sorbet accompanied by the Farlam Hall’s in-house London Dry Gin.
Finally, end the night with a decadent delicacy, the Black Forest Gateau, a perfect finish this romantic evening.
With a selection of Petit Fours before the dining experience draws to a close, guests can be certain it will be a memorable Valentine’s Day.

Farlam Hall is located just a short distance from some of the country’s most cherished national parks, including the Lake District and North Pennines and the iconic Hadrian’s Wall.
HOW: The Valentine’s Day Tasting Menu is priced at £130 per person and is only available on 14 February. There is a wine pairing option available for an additional cost of £90 per person. For more information please visit https://farlamhall.com/ / 016977 46234
