Edinburgh Gin, the celebrated distillers known for their exquisite spirits, opened the doors of their brand-new distillery on Friday, 6 December.
Nestled within The Arches on East Market Street, this cutting-edge facility promises an unparalleled, immersive experience for gin enthusiasts and curious visitors.
The Edinburgh Gin Distillery at The Arches is a marvel of architectural ingenuity, seamlessly blending the old with the new.
Built upon the foundations of the historic Trinity Church, where botanical exploration first took root centuries ago, the distillery boasts carefully preserved features, including landmark arches and exposed brickwork.
Visitors will be captivated by the modern additions, including floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views, a stylish roof terrace, and a chic bar for sampling the finest gins.
At the core of this gin-making wonderland are three magnificent copper stills: Annie and Lina, both 2,000L stills named after the first female gardeners at Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh in 1897, and Matilda, a more minor still dedicated to experimental development.
In line with contemporary environmental concerns, the new distillery operates with 100% renewable electricity, making it operationally carbon neutral.
This commitment to sustainability extends to the brand’s packaging, which now incorporates 49% recycled glass content across all formats, fully recyclable labels and case shippers, and the removal of secondary packaging for the core range.
The distillery offers four distinct experiences for visitors, which are bookable now. These include The Classic Tour & Tasting, The Gin Making Experience, and two additional unique experiences.
Led by expert Distillery Ambassadors, these tours provide a fascinating glimpse into Edinburgh’s rich gin history and allow visitors to explore the remarkable flavours, aromas, and textures of the carefully chosen botanicals.
As the new beating heart of Edinburgh’s gin culture, this state-of-the-art distillery is poised to become a must-visit destination for spirit lovers and curious travellers alike.
