Equi’s Ice Cream, the beloved Scottish ice cream brand, is thrilled to announce its debut launch in Sainsbury’s, marking an exciting milestone in its growth strategy.

The deal, which will see three best-selling flavours – Pistachio Swirl, Madagascan Vanilla, and Raspberry Ripple – available in 26 Sainsbury’s stores across Scotland, represents a key step for the company as it targets £6m turnover by 2027, a 20% increase year-on-year.

This exciting collaboration with Sainsbury’s is the first time that Equi’s Ice Cream will be sold in the national supermarket chain, increasing brand exposure but also supporting the company’s aspirations to sell across the UK and internationally.

With the new listing comes the need for increased production with Equi’s now implementing night shifts at its factory in Rutherglen, a move that will allow them to ramp up production capacity and keep up with the expected growth.

“This partnership with Sainsbury’s is a huge moment for us,” said David Equi, CEO of Equi’s Ice Cream.

“We have worked hard for generations to create ice cream that not only tastes incredible but also reflects our commitment to quality ingredients and supporting local Scottish suppliers.

“Having three of our most popular flavours listed in 25 of the biggest Sainsbury’s stores in Scotland is incredibly prestigious.

“We’re excited not only for the immediate opportunities of partnering with such a renowned retailer, but also for the long-term growth potential it brings.”

Equi’s Ice Cream is now available in seven major retailers across Scotland, and the brand’s presence continues to grow as they target additional listings, including plans for future expansion into England.

The three flavours launching in stores are:

  • Pistachio Swirl – A creamy pistachio ice cream with a rich, velvety sauce, combining Italian pistachios and Scottish whole milk and double cream.
  • Madagascan Vanilla – A multi-award-winning flavour featuring smooth milk and double cream from local dairy farms combined with Natural Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar.
  • Raspberry Ripple – A tangy, vibrant raspberry swirl in Equi’s signature double cream base.

Callum Nimmo, Regional Buyer for Sainsbury’s said: “We’re thrilled to unveil Equi’s ice cream as the scoop of the day in our Scottish stores at Sainsbury’s. This partnership is a sweet reminder of our dedication to supporting local suppliers and delighting our customers with exceptional products.”
