This marks the eighth consecutive year that Equi’s has been honoured with multiple Great Taste Awards, reaffirming its status as a premier producer of exceptional ice cream.
David Equi, the owner of Equi’s Ice Cream, said: “Winning these Great Taste Awards is a wonderful acknowledgement of our team’s hard work and dedication.
“It was a delight to see the judges’ positive reactions, and we’re now boasting a total of 71 stars.”
The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are widely regarded as the world’s most trusted food and drink awards.
These awards are coveted marks of quality and excellence, judged by over 500 of the most discerning palates, including food critics, chefs, cooks, and producers.
This year, Equi’s Ice Cream stood out among thousands of entries, earning 8 prestigious Great Taste stars.
Earlier this summer, they were crowned Scottish Ice Cream Champions and Overall Dairy Champion at the Royal Highland Show for their exceptional Double Cream Vanilla.
The Awards which were announced on 30 July include:
- Traditional Double Cream – 2 stars
- Pistachio Swirl – 1 star
- Cookie Dough – 1 star
- Double Cream Vanilla – 1 star
- Espresso Coffee & Dark Rum – 1 star
- Hazelnut and Frangelico – 1 star
- Sea Salt Caramel Pecan – 1 star
It is an exciting time for Team Equi’s. In addition to their award success, the ice cream producer, headquartered in Rutherglen, Glasgow, has recently added Strawberry Cheesecake, Pistachio Swirl, and Chocolate Hazelnut and Raspberry to its 50+ strong list of flavours and unveiled a new look, with a cheeky nod to its Scottish Italian heritage.
The new Equi’s logo features an illustration of Michelangelo’s Statue of David, the world-famous Italian Renaissance sculpture, but in true Glasgow style, it has an ice cream cone on its head in a nod to the iconic Duke of Wellington traffic cone.
The three new flavours come as part of the ice cream company’s growth ambitions, which include projected growth of more than 40% by 2027, taking them from a £3.5m turnover company to £5m.
