Scotland’s most anticipated restaurant opening of 2026 is set to welcome its first guests on Wednesday 15 July, as acclaimed chef Orry Shand launches his debut independent venture, Falls by Orry Shand.
Located at the former Falls of Feugh restaurant near Banchory, the new dining destination takes its name and inspiration from the dramatic riverside setting at the Bridge of Feugh, around 20 miles from Aberdeen. The reimagined space will offer an intimate and refined dining experience rooted in the landscape and larder of Royal Deeside.
Shand, Scotland’s former National Chef of the Year and a BBC Great British Menu 2026 banquet winner, said the opening marks a significant personal milestone.

“This is something I’ve been working towards for a long time,” he said. “To create my own restaurant in a place as special as Royal Deeside, and to showcase the incredible produce we have here, is hugely exciting.”
Falls by Orry Shand will centre around a multi-course tasting menu, featuring between 12 and 15 servings. The offering blends the best of Scottish ingredients with Nordic influences and classic French techniques, reflecting Shand’s culinary background and forward-thinking approach.
“The menu is about telling a story of place,” Shand explained. “We’re drawing on the natural surroundings, the seasons, and the producers we work with, while also bringing in techniques and flavours that have inspired me throughout my career.”
With a maximum capacity of just 30 covers, the restaurant is designed to deliver a highly personal dining experience. Guests can choose from two sittings each evening, with the restaurant operating from Wednesday to Saturday.
The move to take over the well-known Falls of Feugh site also brings a sense of continuity, while introducing a bold new chapter for the venue.
“It’s an iconic location that people already love,” Shand added. “Our aim is to honour that while creating something completely new and memorable.”

Reservations for Falls by Orry Shand are now open online, with strong early demand expected ahead of the July launch. Diners can book and sign up for updates via fallsbyos.com, while additional insights into the restaurant’s journey can be found on Instagram.
As anticipation builds, Falls by Orry Shand is poised to become one of Scotland’s most exciting new culinary destinations of the year.
