Six-course festive boxes now a permanent fixture, with Leith production unit easing capacity
Wedgwood the Restaurant, in Edinburgh’s Canongate, has announced that its Christmas Dinner in a Box is available again this festive season, and is now a permanent feature in the restaurant’s portfolio. The boxes, offering a six course luxury Christmas feast to enjoy at home, were originally devised by chef and restaurateur Paul Wedgwood during covid times. They are ready to order online now at the Wedgwood website, and are delivered free wherever customers live in the UK.
The boxes are supplied for one, two, and three people, as well as multiples thereof, and are made using local Scottish ingredients, supplied with instructions on how to cook and plate the dishes. Two versions are available for Christmas 2026: a regular box for meat eaters, with a choice of Roast Turkey, Mallard Breast, or Pressed Ham Hock as the main course, and a vegetarian box, with a sweet potato, chestnut and spinach rotolo as the main. Gluten-free options are also offered. Both menus run to six courses, including a Gran Marnier Panna Cotta with gingerbread crumb and a Christmas Pudding with XO rum sauce for dessert.

Paul and wife Lisa initially had to close Wedgwood the Restaurant to make time and space to prepare the boxes due to demand. Last year, however, they acquired a kitchen unit in Leith to help with production, meaning the restaurant did not have to close, and they were able to cover national deliveries for the first time, having originally delivered only to Edinburgh and the Lothians.
This year the insulated boxes will be sent out on Monday 21st December, for delivery by Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd. Customers across Edinburgh and EH postcodes can collect their box from the restaurant on 23rd or 24th December, or have it hand delivered by Lisa and Paul, or a team member, on Christmas Eve.
“We’re boxing clever again this Christmas,” said Paul Wedgwood. “Our Wedgwood the Restaurant At Home Festive Box is an established product, of which we’re immensely proud. We are really pleased that it’s available again this year.”
“We’ve had very positive feedback on our box for one, as those dining alone on the big day certainly shouldn’t miss out on something tasty to treat themselves to,” he said. “We also offer gluten-free options.”

Paul said he wanted purchasers to feel more relaxed and in control while preparing Christmas Day dinner. “The designated cook can often miss out on the fun of the day, busy cooking for everyone and worrying about timings. Our regular box contains an easy to plate cold starter of Smoked Shetland Salmon, served with pink grapefuit, fennel, crème fraiche and douglas fir honey, followed by a Jerusalem artichoke pancetta and lentil Veloute. Both of these dishes are ready in minutes.”
“It’s all super easy, with one course gently heating as you enjoy the previous one,” said Paul. “You can choose different mains for different people. In a box for two, for example, one person can opt for the turkey while the other guest has the mallard breast.”
“Christmas Day Dinner should be the most special dinner you enjoy all year,” he added. “We have sourced produce of the very highest standard from our trusted suppliers, such as Castle Game, who are supplying the mallard duck & roe deer, and David Lowrie Fish Merchants, who also have an esteemed reputation.”

The regular and vegetarian menus are priced at £90 for one person, £180 for two people, and £270 for three people, with delivery included.
