For too long, gluten free bread has meant compromise, on taste, quality and ingredients. In September 2025, Genius Foods is changing that. With 16 years of gluten free bakery expertise, one of the UK’s leading gluten free bakeries has teamed up with TV personality, bestselling author and diagnosed coeliac Megan McKenna to launch ‘Naturally Genius’ – a six-strong range of artisan and sliced breads with nothing artificial.

Together, they’ve created gluten free breads that taste as good as they look, are free from artificial preservatives, flavourings and emulsifiers. Showcasing their market leading expertise to develop a unique range set to transform the standards of gluten free bread.

“I’ve been living with coeliac disease and allergies since I was a child, and I know the disappointment of buying bread that’s dry, bland or packed with artificial ingredients,” says McKenna. “Working with Genius has given me the chance to craft something genuinely different, delicious and truly better for the community. That’s really exciting.”

The range is baked at Genius’ gluten free bakery in Bathgate, Scotland, where £1 million has been invested, it’s largest investment to date. Funding the installation of a state-of-the-art VEMAG dough depository machine and advanced metal detection technology, alongside other enhancements to their upgraded bread line. All designed to elevate product quality and operational capacity.

“We’re excited about what the investment means for our team, our customers, and the future of food innovation in Scotland.” explains Stephen Hann, CEO of Genius Foods.

“This is more than a new product range, it’s a new era for gluten free bakery,” added Hann. “We’ve listened to the coeliac and gluten free community who told us they were tired of having to compromise, fed up of Xanthan Gum or Glycerine in their bread. With this investment and innovation, we’ve created high quality, truly delicious breads without anything artificial. This is the bread the community deserves.”

The coeliac community is incredibly important to both Genius and Megan McKenna, so they’re giving back to them through this launch too. For one year, Genius will donate 5p to Coeliac UK for every pack sold of the two artisanal bloomers; Tiger Bloomer and Ancient Grains & Seeds Bloomer.

“We’re delighted to see Genius, whose products have carried our Crossed Grain Trademark for many years, continue to support the coeliac community,” says Hilary Croft, CEO of Coeliac UK. ” Their donation will contribute to the work we do to support those who need to live gluten free, including advice, information and research.”

From artisan bloomers to sliced loaves, the range offers something for every occasion. It rolls out nationwide this autumn, starting with Sainsbury’s on 1st September, followed by Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado across September and October.

For Genius, it’s a launch that blends craft with care under their new brand identity. “We’ve combined gluten free baking expertise with innovative technology to create a range that speaks directly to what gluten free consumers want: authenticity, taste and trust,” adds Lauren Harber, Head of Marketing at Genius Foods. “‘Naturally Genius’ is bread made the right way – for everyone.”
