An internationally renowned food ingredients firm swapped production lines for party tents as it transformed its Aberdeenshire headquarters into a vibrant summer festival for staff and their families.
More than 450 attendees from across the UK gathered at Macphie’s Glenbervie site for a day filled with live music, family entertainment and delicious food, in a celebration of culture and community dubbed “Glastonbervie”.
This year’s celebration delivered on its promise to be the most memorable yet, with a marquee centrepiece evoking the magic of Glastonbury – all set against the picturesque Aberdeenshire backdrop.
Live music soundtracked the day, with a band taking to the stage in the evening to round off the festivities. Guests enjoyed a lively mix of attractions including bouncy castles, children’s games and arts and crafts, ensuring fun for every member of the family.
Food played a starring role, with a menu designed and served by the business’s own activation team – experts in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The day culminated with hearty portions of locally sourced fish and chips, rounding off a feast of flavour.

Ed Widdowson, Chief Executive of Macphie, said: “Our celebration is our chance to thank our incredible people and their families for their commitment and hard work.
“We owe our success to our fantastic teams, who are the heart and soul of Macphie, so celebrating in style is something everyone looks forward to – it’s a real highlight of the year.”
The festival also provided an informal opportunity for colleagues from different parts of the UK to mix, with staff from the firm’s Tannochside facility in North Lanarkshire joining their Glenbervie counterparts in the north-east for the occasion.
Ed added: “What made the day truly special was the chance it gives our teams from across the UK to come together in one place. It’s not often colleagues from Glenbervie and Tannochside get to meet face-to-face, including the field-based staff, so this event creates a brilliant opportunity to connect, share stories and strengthen the bonds that make us such a close-knit organisation.”
Founded in 1928 and based at Glenbervie since 1973, Macphie has evolved from a local bakery wholesaler into a global ingredients manufacturer, working with some of the most iconic food brands.
The firm’s values are rooted in its people-first culture, which is reflected in its continuous investment in their staff events, community initiatives and wellbeing programmes that bring colleagues together.
The Glastonbervie celebration not only nodded to the firm’s creative flair but also showcased its products in action – demonstrating the role its ingredients play in delivering high-quality, feel-good food experiences.
Macphie has held B Corp certification since 2015 and produces an extensive range of food ingredients including ready-to-use sauces, bakery mixes and inclusions. It supplies major food brands, wholesalers and manufacturers in the UK and internationally.
