Marks & Spencer, one of Britain’s most iconic retailers, has announced plans to launch its celebrated food range in Australia for the first time. The move comes after a landmark partnership with supermarket giant Coles, aiming to serve a taste of the UK to Australian shoppers beginning Wednesday, 19 November.

Shoppers in Australia will soon find a selection of M&S food products in Coles stores nationwide, with an extended range becoming available for online customers. The agreement marks a significant step in M&S’s international growth strategy, following its successful food wholesale partnership with Target in the United States, and a fashion supply collaboration with the David Jones department store earlier this year.

Mark Lemming, Managing Director of International at Marks & Spencer, said: “With consistent growth in Food in the UK business and strong brand momentum as the UK’s most trusted retailer there is now so much opportunity for us to grow our business globally. Wholesale is a relatively new channel for us, but one that provides lots of opportunity to scale, sell and serve our food business to even more customers around the world.”

Anna Croft, Chief Commercial Officer at Coles, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating: “We’re excited to join forces with Marks & Spencer to bring their quality food range to Australia, allowing millions of Aussies to savour the very best of British right here at home.”

This expansion into the Australian market comes as M&S refocuses its international ambitions after scaling back some franchise operations in recent years, which included store closures in China and France.

For Australian shoppers, the new partnership signals not just fresh flavours on Coles shelves, but a new chapter in the story of one of Britain’s most trusted retailers.
