Merchant City Brewing Company has expanded its core range of craft beers with the launch of a certified Gluten Free Beer.

An easy-drinking light ale with a balanced biscuit malt flavour, the beer is available in 500ml bottles.

Alan Rimmer, Co-Founder, Merchant City Brewing Company said, ā€œAs consumers continue to be health conscious itā€™s important that we are able to offer an alternative for people who may have an intolerance to barley or wheat but without compromising on taste.

ā€œHowever, because of our brewing process and flavourings most of our beers have a very low measurement of gluten anyway but consumers need the reassurance of the certificationā€.

With a retail price from Ā£2.50, the Session Ale is available from a variety of stockists including Majestic Wines.

The Merchant City Brewing Co. was set up last year by Allan Rimmer and Douglas Wheatley who have both worked and lived in the Glasgow Merchant City for many years and are keen that their beers reflect the diversity and character of this vibrant area of the city.

The craft brewery currently produces a range of staple core styles and small batch feature brews under the careful guidance of Master Brewer, Adam Gray. Ā Ā Earlier this year the company received a Silver Award in the Specialty Light Beer Keg for its American Pale Ale at the SIBA National Independent Beer Awards.Ā
