Sustainable growth on the menu at Scotland Food & Drink’s Excellence Summit

13/05/2024

Industry leadership body, Scotland Food & Drink, is hosting its first ever Excellence Summit on 9 October, which aims to provide businesses with ‘success strategies for sustainable growth’.

The event combines the previously separate annual industry conference and Excellence Awards – marquee events in the Scottish food and drink calendar – for the first time in a full-day and night of networking, insight and celebration.

Held at the Double Tree Hilton in Glasgow, the day-time itinerary of key-note speeches, break-outs and panel discussions will allow businesses to engage with dynamic leaders in the sector, covering economic insights, innovation, consumer trends, sustainability, branding, and growth strategies.

The Excellence Awards have been the highest accolades in the industry for more than 20 years, and this year will comprise of 14 tasted awards and seven business categories. All products entered into tasted categories are sampled and assessed by an expert judging panel that includes buyers from major retailers, wholesalers and foodservice, as well as journalists and independent venue operators.

Iain Baxter, Chief Executive of Scotland Food & Drink, said: “Scottish food and drink businesses are underpinned by people, passion, and perseverance. Bringing together the Excellence Awards and industry conference into The Excellence Summit will only help to create a day of unmissable insight and celebration to chart future successes and celebrate current ones.

“The conference element of the Summit has been revamped this year to be more interactive and provide attendees with even more valuable and actionable insights to grow their businesses sustainably.

“The theme of sustainable growth is central to our national strategy, ‘Sustaining Scotland. Supplying the World.’, opening up new markets and building the value within the Scottish food and drink industry. The conference will support businesses to realise the £4bn economic opportunity we have to grow, and the awards will celebrate the products and businesses at the forefront of our dynamic sector.
