The Glenlivet has introduced its 12 Year Old Provence Edition, a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky inspired by the landscapes, flavours and relaxed lifestyle of southern France.
The new expression forms part of The Glenlivet’s Beyond Speyside series and pairs the distillery’s signature Speyside character with the influence of a trio of French wine cask finishes.
Created under the direction of Cask Master Kevin Balmforth, the release includes whisky selectively finished in Château Sainte Marguerite white wine casks, alongside Rivesaltes and Sauternes casks. Château Sainte Marguerite is among the estates holding Cru Classé des Côtes de Provence status.
The cask combination has been selected to bring distinct layers of flavour to the whisky. The Provence white wine casks add citrus and floral notes, while Rivesaltes casks contribute nutty, warming spice characteristics. Sauternes casks introduce richer notes of marmalade and crème brûlée.
The finished single malt combines The Glenlivet’s mellow house style with orchard fruit, floral complexity and subtle spice. Tasting notes include white peach, nectarine, pear and bright citrus.
Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet Cask Master, said: “With the Provence Edition, we wanted to take The Glenlivet somewhere unexpected. The challenge was introducing new layers of flavour inspired by Provence while remaining unmistakably The Glenlivet.
“By actively monitoring the finishing process and carefully balancing the influence of Château Sainte Marguerite, Rivesaltes and Sauternes wine casks, we have created a whisky that delivers vibrant orchard fruit, elegant floral notes and exceptional complexity, capturing the vibrancy and elegance that inspired this release.”
Aurélie Torre, vice president of marketing for specialty whiskies, said the release reflects the brand’s approach of balancing established Scotch whisky-making credentials with new influences.

The Glenlivet said the whisky recently received a gold medal at the 2026 Scotch Whisky Masters.
The Provence Edition is presented in packaging influenced by the region’s vineyards, floral fields and Riviera aesthetic, featuring lavender and gold tones alongside The Glenlivet’s signature teal.
