AN ULLAPOOL chip shop has been crowned best in the north at the Scottish Fish and Chip Awards.
Staff from The Seaforth were on hand at the glittering Gala ceremony in Glasgow on Monday evening (13th Nov) to collect the top prize, fighting off stiff competition from Lossie Chip Shop of Lossiemouth and The New McGinty’s in Fortrose.
It cemented a highly rewarding evening for The Seaforth team, who also left Glasgow with a Highly Recommended prize for Best Fish Supper in the North.
Interestingly, the category winner in that section was fellow Ullapool eatery, Deli-ca-sea, making it a watershed evening for the Wester Ross town’s highly acclaimed seafood.

Ullapool, which sits on the shoreline of Loch Broom, was founded as a herring port.
Although its harbour today is more synonymous with ferry sailings to Stornoway and the Western Isles, fresh seafood is still landed at the port daily.
The Seaforth puts its success at the awards down to sourcing all its seafood from within a few kilometres’ radius of Ullapool through local fishmonger, SRC Seafood.
Visitors have been known to travel from as far as Perth to sample their prized mussels while everything is made for customers, fresh to order.
“The Seaforth is delighted and honoured to have secured the titles of Best Chippy in the North and Highly Recommended Best Fish Supper in the North,” said Jody Keating of The Seaforth.
“Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our staff who showcase the remarkable quality of Ullapool’s seafood. This triumph is not just a victory for us, but a testament to the exceptional culinary heritage in our village.
“We extend our warmest congratulations to Deli-ca-sea on their well-deserved award. Together we proudly brought home three accolades to Ullapool.”
