Falkirk Distillery is celebrating its on-screen debut in the upcoming film Glenrothan, as Scotland’s whisky heritage takes centre stage in a powerful new cinematic release.
The distillery, located near Polmont,Falkirk, was selected as a key filming location for the feature, directed by acclaimed Scottish actor Brian Cox. Filming took place in August 2024, with the site transforming into the fictional Glen Nairn Distillery.
Ahead of the nationwide cinema release, Falkirk Distillery co-founder Fiona Stewart and the distillery’s HMRC Compliance Manager, Lorraine Girdler attended an exclusive premiere event at the Ham Yard Hotel in London. The evening featured a special Q&A session with Brian Cox, alongside cast members and industry guests, celebrating the film’s deep connection to Scotland’s landscape, culture and whisky heritage.
“It was a fantastic evening and a real privilege to be part of the preview in London,” said Fiona Stewart, Co-Founder of Falkirk Distillery. “Seeing the distillery brought to life on screen, and celebrating alongside the cast and creative team, was a proud moment for us.”


A Distillery at the Heart of the Story
Glenrothan tells the story of two estranged brothers, brought back together through family legacy and a shared connection to whisky. The film showcases Scotland’s landscapes and traditions, with Falkirk Distillery playing a central role in bringing this story to life.
Visitors to the distillery will recognise many of the filming locations, including the warehouses, mash tun and still room, offering a unique opportunity to step into the scenes featured in the film.

Screen Tourism Meets Whisky Heritage
With screen tourism continuing to grow in popularity, Falkirk Distillery is well placed to welcome visitors inspired by the film. Guests can explore the same spaces seen on screen, while experiencing the craftsmanship and character of a working Scottish distillery.
Since opening its doors to the public, the distillery has already welcomed visitors from across the globe, drawn by its small-batch approach and immersive visitor experience.
