Wemyss Malts has confirmed the return of its sought-after Smoky Shores limited release, with the revived expression now carrying a 14-year age statement.
The original Smoky Shores sold out following its launch in 2022, and the new edition has been eagerly anticipated by whisky enthusiasts and the trade alike.
Smoky Shores 14 Year Old brings together two single malts with contrasting relationships to peat. One comes from a distillery long associated with heavily peated whisky, while the other is a less familiar peated expression from a producer better known for its unpeated house style.
Master Blender Isabella Wemyss selected and married the whiskies from a small parcel of hogsheads, combining the two styles to recreate the salty, smoky and distinctly coastal profile that made the original bottling a favourite.
The additional maturation has developed the whisky’s savoury complexity while retaining its signature smoky, saline and citrus-forward character. Wemyss Malts said the 14-year-old expression has a buttery gold colour, with a thread of citrus helping to balance the peat and prevent it becoming overly heavy.
Bottled at 46% ABV, Smoky Shores 14 is non-chill filtered and has a peat level of 10 PPM. Just 3,552 bottles have been produced, making it one of the most limited Wemyss Malts releases of the year.

“Fourteen years maturation has allowed that character to evolve, while keeping everything people loved about the original spirit – the saltiness, the smokiness, and the crisp citrus bite.”
The whisky opens with coastal brine and rich peaty smoke on the nose, with a clear salt-air character from the first pour. On the palate, medicinal peat and sea salt are lifted by orange peel zest, bringing freshness and balance to the smoky profile.

Smoky Shores 14 Year Old is available across the UK and EU with a recommended selling price of £65, or €75 to €78. It is available through the Wemyss Malts online store, as well as Luvians in Fife, Bread and Butter in Anstruther, and Isle of Skye Distillers’ Portree Bottle Shop and The Misty Bottle.
