INDEPENDENT biscuit maker, Border Biscuits, continues to expand its UK foothold following a landmark retail listing with supermarket giant, Morrisons.

The deal follows £1m of private investment in the independently run firm’s Lanark manufacturing plant, enabling a run rate of up to 500 chocolate biscuit bars a minute.

It means 182 Morrisons stores across the country will now carry the newly launched dark chocolate ginger biscuit bars.

In the last 12 months, Border Biscuits recorded sales of over £5million for their dark chocolate ginger.

John Cunningham, Border Biscuits managing director, said: “With in-home snacking having increased by 50% during lockdown, we hope that consumers will enjoy discovering their favourite biscuit in its new snack bar format.

“Like many food manufacturers, coronavirus has presented countless challenges for our business. To have our new dark chocolate ginger bars land in Morrisons is testament to the continued hard work and commitment of our team.”
