Yiamas Greek Taverna, a beloved fixture on Bath Street in Glasgow, has announced that it will be closing its doors for the final time on July 27, 2025, after 15 years in business.

Founded in 2012 by Yiannis Bantouvakis, Yiamas quickly became renowned for its authentic, flavour-packed Greek street food.

The restaurant has been operated in recent years by Yiannis’ wife, Linda, and daughter, Stascia, following his passing in 2016. Over its years of operation, Yiamas earned a loyal customer base who appreciated its vibrant menu and warm, family-run atmosphere.

Despite the decision to close the Bath Street location, the owners expressed that this is not a final farewell. Sharing their thoughts on social media, the family behind Yiamas revealed that they are preparing for an “exciting transformation” and assured diners, “We’re not saying goodbye, just see you soon.”

They also expressed profound gratitude to their many supporters over the years, stating: “It has been an incredible 15 years, and we have met the most amazing people.

“Yiamas customers truly are the best, but it’s time for us to move on.

“We will be closing our doors on 27 July as we prepare for the evolution of Yiamas.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the support through the years. We’re not saying goodbye, just see you soon.”

The closure of Yiamas marks the end of an era for lovers of Greek cuisine in Glasgow’s city centre. As the team prepares for the next phase of the Yiamas story, locals and regular patrons are left to reminisce about the many memories created over plates of souvlaki and friendly conversation.

For those wishing to enjoy a final meal at Yiamas Greek Taverna, the restaurant will remain open until July 27.
