US craft beer giants land in UK through BrewDog partnership

BrewDog has unveiled an exclusive UK launch of 24 American craft beers owned by Tilray Brands, marking a significant expansion of its offering and a new phase in its strategy following its acquisition by the global drinks group earlier this year.

The rollout, which begins this week, will see a curated range of beers from some of the most recognisable US craft breweries – including SweetWater, Montauk, 10 Barrel, Green Flash and Blue Point – available on draught across BrewDog’s UK bar estate and online via BrewDog.com.

The move positions BrewDog as the primary gateway for American craft beer in the UK, with the Scottish brewer set to introduce consumers to a wide spectrum of styles “fresh from the U.S.”. It also represents the first step in a broader plan by Tilray to scale its American craft beer portfolio across UK and European retail, grocery and on-trade channels.

Tilray Brands, now the fourth largest craft brewer in the United States, acquired BrewDog’s brand, intellectual property and certain assets out of administration in March, forming what it describes as a $500 million global craft beer and beverage platform.

Rajnish Ohri, President, International at Tilray Brands, said the launch signals a major milestone in the company’s international growth ambitions. “We are bringing some of the most widely known American craft beers in the U.S. to new consumers internationally through a powerful retail and distribution platform,” he said. “This is just the beginning.”

For BrewDog, the partnership marks a notable evolution beyond its traditionally in-house brewed portfolio. Chief Commercial Officer Lauren Carrol said the expansion would broaden consumer choice while reinforcing BrewDog’s position at the centre of craft beer culture.

“We’ve carefully curated this portfolio to deliver the brands, styles and flavour profiles we believe will resonate most with UK drinkers,” she said. “With the support of Tilray, we’re excited to establish a place for great-tasting authentic American craft beer in the UK market.”

The line-up spans a wide range of styles, from SweetWater’s popular 420 Extra Pale Ale and G13 Hazy IPA to 10 Barrel’s Apocalypse West Coast IPA and Montauk’s Wave Chaser IPA. Belgian-style wheat beer from Shock Top, high-strength double IPAs from Terrapin, and a non-alcoholic option from Runner’s High Brewing Company also feature.

Many of the beers will be available in the UK for the first time, with shipments arriving directly from US breweries in time for the summer season. BrewDog is also planning to introduce curated “U.S. Beer Flights” across its bars, offering four one-third pint pours for £12.95 to encourage trial and discovery.

The launch is backed by consumer research commissioned by BrewDog, which found more than half of beer drinkers are open to trying American craft brands, with particularly strong appeal among 18 to 34-year-olds and existing craft beer enthusiasts.

Looking ahead, BrewDog and Tilray have outlined ambitions to expand distribution into grocery and wider on-trade channels, with the potential for some of the American brands to eventually be brewed at BrewDog’s Ellon headquarters in Aberdeenshire.

The initiative underscores a growing transatlantic convergence in craft beer, as global players look to scale distinctive regional styles for new audiences while leveraging established local platforms to accelerate market entry.
