Frasers Plus Braehead has announced the arrival of award-winning Japanese restaurant brand Maki & Ramen, as the fast-growing Scottish operator selects the destination for the next stage of its expansion.

The signing underlines Frasers Plus Braehead’s continued appeal to ambitious brands looking to grow within high-performing regional destinations with an established retail and leisure offer.

The 3,886 sq ft restaurant will seat up to 120 guests and bring Maki & Ramen’s full dining experience to visitors from across the region. Known for its authentic Japanese cuisine and contemporary approach, the brand has built a loyal following across Scotland and continues to expand its presence across the UK.

The Braehead opening will mark Maki & Ramen’s fourth franchised restaurant and its second franchise location in Scotland, representing another important step in the brand’s growth beyond Glasgow city centre.

The signing follows the recent relocation of Stack & Still within the centre, further strengthening Frasers Plus Braehead’s food and beverage offer. Together, the operators broaden customer choice and support the centre’s ambition to give visitors more reasons to stay longer and enjoy a full day at Braehead.

Rachel Scott, Head of Leasing at Global Mutual, said Maki & Ramen was “exactly the type of operator” the centre is looking to attract.

“The brand has built a strong reputation across Scotland and the decision to choose Frasers Plus Braehead reflects the confidence ambitious brands continue to have in the scheme,” she said.

“Every new signing is about strengthening the overall proposition. By bringing together complementary retail, leisure and hospitality operators, we’re creating a destination that works for both our customers and our occupiers, supporting long-term commercial success.”

Michael Salvador, COO of Maki & Ramen, said Braehead was a “natural next step” for the brand.

“It gives us the opportunity to bring the brand to a destination that already attracts a diverse mix of shoppers, families and leisure visitors, making it the right fit for our next location,” he said.

“As we continue to grow, we’re focused on choosing locations that complement the Maki & Ramen experience, and Frasers Plus Braehead offers exactly that.”

Maki & Ramen joins a growing line-up of brands investing in Frasers Plus Braehead, reinforcing the centre’s continued leasing momentum and long-term strategy of attracting sustained retailer investment.
