Last Halloween generated between £200,000 and £220,000 in a single night, the firm says
Takeaway ordering platform Mealzo is preparing for its busiest night of the year this Halloween. At the evening peak, it expects customers to place an order every two seconds as British households increasingly embrace US-style trick or treat traditions.
Last Halloween, Mealzo handled between 8,000 and 9,000 orders in a single night, worth an estimated £200,000 to £220,000. Orders were up 53% on 2024, and order value rose by around 66%.
According to the business, the gap shows customers were placing larger orders as families refuelled before and after trick-or-treating and friends hosted parties at home. The next busiest nights are during the festive period.
Last year’s rush peaked between 6pm and 7pm, when Mealzo averaged an order every two seconds. Demand held up across the weekend. Between 31 October to 2 November 2025, Mealzo averaged around 8,000 orders a day, with daily order value of between £190,000 and £200,000.
Research from retail agency Savvy forecasts that UK Halloween spending will hit £705m in 2026, a 6% rise on last year, with the Saturday timing encouraging more parties, costumes and home decorating. Just under half of UK shoppers plan to celebrate in some way, climbing to nearly four in five families, and more than one in five Halloween shoppers expect to host a gathering of their own.
Kevin Tabatabaeyan, from Mealzo, said: “Halloween used to be a night for the kids. Now it’s a night off for the whole household and a chance to celebrate with families and friends, US-style.”
He added: “Last year, our busiest hour by far was 6pm, when parents were rushing to get trick-or-treaters out the door before it got too late. Margarita pizzas were among the most popular deliveries as families fuelled up for the evening.”
Tabatabaeyan continued: “With Halloween on a Saturday this year, we expect the doorbell to keep ringing long after the last trick-or-treater has gone home – and the pizzas to get spicier as the adults take over. We’ve been working with our restaurant partners to make sure they’re ready for what we expect to be our busiest night of 2026.”
