NORTH-EAST couples planning their big day are eagerly anticipating a special wedding-themed wine tasting event to be held at a leading hotel this month.

Norwood Hall Hotel, Aberdeen’s country house in the city, is welcoming esteemed expert Carol Brown of Wine Uncorked Education to share her decades of expertise with future brides and grooms.

In the first of a series of monthly events, Carol will explore the hotel’s wine list as part of an informal tutored wine tasting. Each couple will sample a variety of red, white and sparkling wines followed by canapés.

Limited spaces are available for this exclusive event which takes place on Tuesday, July 25th, from 7pm onwards. Free tickets are available on a first come, first served basis and can be secured by contacting weddings@norwood-hall.co.uk or call 01224 868951.

Aberdeen’s longest running wine school, Wine Uncorked Education, was established in 1996 by wine educator and writer, Carol Brown. Since then, Carol has offered wine tastings, events, workshops, certified WSET courses and master classes across Scotland to consumers, the wine trade and hospitality businesses.

Carol Brown, founder of Wine Uncorked Education, said: “Wine is a vital but often overlooked ingredient in organising an unforgettable wedding experience. It gives the bride and groom the chance to show their personality and adds a ‘wow factor’ for their families and guests.

“I’m looking forward to working together with the team at Norwood Hall Hotel to create an informative but relaxing evening where we can deliver a wine tasting experience that will live long in the memory.”

Stephane Portes, general manager at Norwood Hall Hotel, added: “We’re looking forward to hosting a fun and engaging evening with the chance to learn from a true expert and connoisseur in Carol. We expect to receive a lot of interest in the event and recommend booking your place early to avoid disappointment.

“The hotel’s dedicated team of wedding professionals will also be on hand throughout the evening to provide guided tours of the hotel and our facilities, explaining the wide range of options we can tailor to make your wedding day extra special.”

Earlier this year, Norwood Hall celebrated a double win at a prestigious national awards event in recognition of its reputation for wedding excellence.

The hotel clinched the Wedding Venue of the Year (North) honour at the Scottish Wedding Awards after impressing judges with its commitment to providing first-class customer service to brides and grooms. It was a night to remember with the hotel also claiming the Local Wedding Exhibition of the Year award for its popular annual Norwood Hall Wedding Fayre.

This latest awards success for Norwood followed honours for the Wedding Venue of the Year at the Top Tier Awards in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

The hotel never holds more than one wedding on any given day to ensure complete focus is given to each couple. It caters for ceremonies of all sizes, from up to 200 people in the venue’s ballroom to smaller, more intimate affairs in the library or private function rooms.

Norwood’s acclaimed Tapestry Restaurant features traditional Scottish décor and is committed to providing the finest locally sourced produce and ingredients. Similarly, the menu for each wedding or event can be tailor-made to suit individual tastes or preferences whilst retaining an emphasis on quality food and drink.

Norwood Hall Hotel sits within the grounds of the 15th century Pitfodels Castle and offers 73 luxury bedrooms, including bridal suites and period rooms. Built in 1881 and surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery and a tranquil location within close proximity to the city centre, the four-star hotel caters for weddings all year round.
