Wine lovers and industry professionals are invited to explore the different styles of Port at a series of expert-led tasting seminars in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh this October.

The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto (IVDP) will host the events from 26 to 28 October 2026, combining guided tastings with food pairings. No previous knowledge of Port is required.

Each 90-minute session will feature six Port wines, with a carefully selected food pairing served alongside each one. The seminars aim to showcase the distinctive character of different styles and demonstrate how Port can be enjoyed beyond the traditional end-of-meal occasion.

Manuel Lima, head of the tasting chamber at the IVDP, will lead the sessions, sharing practical insights into Port’s styles and its potential to complement different foods.

Gilberto Igrejas, president of the IVDP, said: “Many people think they know Port, but there is much more to discover. Port is not only a wine for the end of a meal or for special occasions. These seminars are an invitation to set aside familiar assumptions and discover its diversity with fresh eyes.”

The events are open to wine professionals, enthusiasts and anyone curious to learn more about Port.
