Luxury floating hotel Fingal has launched a new Summer Afternoon Tea, inviting guests to indulge in one of Britain’s most cherished traditions against the elegant backdrop of a former lighthouse tender turned five-star destination.
Permanently berthed in Edinburgh’s historic Port of Leith, Fingal blends the opulence of a superyacht with the timeless charm of an Art Deco ocean liner. Since its relaunch as a luxury hotel in 2019, the vessel has established itself as one of Scotland’s most distinctive foodie destinations.
Now, the ship’s Galley team has introduced a seasonal afternoon tea designed to showcase both refined technique and indulgent flavour, served daily from 12pm to 3.30pm in The Lighthouse Restaurant.
Executive Chef at Fingal said: “Our new Summer Afternoon Tea is all about celebrating the season with bold flavours and elegant presentation. We’ve taken classic elements of afternoon tea and elevated them with a modern, Scottish twist, using high-quality ingredients and a real attention to detail.”
Savoury highlights include a crispy potato basket with John Ross hot-smoked salmon, spinach and hollandaise sauce, alongside a tapioca and Gruyère croquette served with tomato chutney and bacon jam. The menu continues with a selection of finely crafted finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones.
On the sweeter side, guests can expect patisserie such as Valrhona chocolate and raspberry gâteau, strawberry and white chocolate Chantilly shortbread, and an apricot frangipane tart paired with rosemary cream.
A spokesperson for Fingal added: “Afternoon tea on Fingal is as much about the experience as it is the food. From the setting and service to the carefully curated menu, we aim to offer something truly memorable for both visitors and locals alike.”
Owned and operated by the award-winning team behind The Royal Yacht Britannia, located just a short walk away, Fingal forms part of a wider visitor offering in Leith, particularly significant during the centenary year of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar, which holds two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, is open to both residents and non-residents, with private dining booths available for pre-booked groups.
Conveniently located opposite the Port of Leith tram stop, Fingal is easily accessible from Edinburgh city centre and the airport, making it an appealing destination for both day trips and special occasions.
Fingal’s Spring Afternoon Tea menu is priced from £65 per person. Advance reservation required.
