Jungle Berry has brought the bold and beautiful flavours of Brazil to Aberdeen, opening its latest café with a menu that celebrates the Amazon’s most famous superfruit – açaí.
Known for its commitment to natural ingredients and sustainable practices, the brand invites city residents to experience a tropical escape in the heart of the Granite City.
The café serves a selection of vibrant bowls, smoothies and Brazilian treats in a setting inspired by nature. The menu offers plenty for those keen to try something different. During a recent visit, several standout options highlighted the café’s focus on healthy, flavour-packed treats inspired by Brazilian traditions.
First up was the Brazilian Way açaí bowl, a vibrant dish featuring smooth, rich açaí topped with paçoquinha, fresh strawberries, milk powder, and a swirl of condensed milk. The combination delivers an indulgent balance of creamy sweetness and a gentle nutty note from the paçoquinha, rounded out by the fruit’s freshness.

Next was the Matcha & Coconut Cloud. This chilled drink blends earthy matcha with the mellow taste of coconut. It’s a bit different to the matcha drinks often found elsewhere; the coconut lends a gentle sweetness and a tropical twist that sets it apart, making it a distinctive and moreish choice.
Speaking with Larder Magazine, Otavio Ferreira, Master Franchisee, said: “Our açaí is sourced directly from the Amazon in Brazil, and what makes it different from most places in the UK is that ours is completely natural. A lot of other places add additives or preservatives to maintain the colour or texture, but we don’t.
“The real challenge with açaí is keeping its purple colour and nutrients. Once picked, the berries oxidise quickly and can turn brown, so they must be frozen within about twelve hours to keep their quality. This means our açaí stays vibrant, nutrient-rich, and authentic.
“Some places add colouring or preservatives to make their bowls look more appealing, but if you see a brownish colour rather than that true deep purple, it’s a sign the quality isn’t there. All our açaí arrives in the UK still frozen, ensuring freshness is locked in and guaranteeing the taste and health benefits you’d expect from the fruit in Brazil.
“We also focus on keeping all our menu items natural and as fresh as possible, preparing bowls with fresh fruit on the day. Our smoothies use both fresh and frozen fruit to balance flavour and nutrients. This attention to quality is what makes Jungle Berry stand out.”

No visit was complete without sampling Pão de queijo, Brazilian cheese bread. Served warm, each golden bite had a crisp shell and a chewy, savoury centre, ideal for pairing with a bowl or enjoying alongside one of Jungle Berry’s fresh juices.
When asked what someone should try if it’s their first time visiting Jungle Berry, Otavio said: “I’d always recommend the Brazilian Way açaí bowl – it’s our signature, and you get all the best textures and flavours. There are also smoothie options that customers can customise with healthy add-ons like collagen or protein.

Before arriving in Aberdeen, Jungle Berry built a following in London at its Notting Hill and Wembley Park cafés, and opened a location in Bray, Ireland. Its expansion signals a growing appetite for Brazilian superfoods and sustainable café culture across the UK and Ireland.
