When the weather outside is mostly grey and the festive feeling comes and goes with the cold wind, it’s easy to start longing for a touch of warmth and a sense of escape. Aberdeen, with its familiar granite gloom, sometimes makes you crave a moment far from the everyday routine – somewhere that feels like a holiday, where the sea is close, the wine is chilled, and the oysters taste as if they’ve just been lifted from the water.
For me, Bistro Verde is exactly that place. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this independently owned seafood restaurant feels like a small portal into a lighter, sunnier world. I first visited during the Tall Ships event, and although months passed since then, one glance at my old Google photos today made me realise how much I missed not only the food, but the feeling the place gives.

Atmosphere & Interior
The interior of Bistro Verde is where the magic begins. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming coastal aesthetic that gently transports you straight to a seaside escape. Soft mint and sea-foam walls create a soothing backdrop, while nautical accents – a blue lifebuoy with “Welcome On Board”, rope-wrapped anchors, and delicate marine art – surround you with a calm, inviting vibe.
Warm lighting highlights the artwork of turtles, whales, and starfish, adding a splash of colour and a touch of whimsy. The décor feels curated but cozy – nothing excessive, just thoughtfully chosen elements that work together to create the atmosphere of a little harbour café somewhere in southern Europe.
The wooden tables, neatly set with polished glasses, give the dining room an intimate feel. Every corner seems designed to let you slow down, breathe out, and enjoy the moment. Sitting here, it’s very easy to forget you’re still in Aberdeen and not on a quiet coastal holiday.
Food & Experience
Bistro Verde is, above all, a celebration of seafood. Their menu offers an impressive selection of fresh, beautifully prepared dishes – from the daily catch to indulgent shellfish plates. Every dish feels crafted with care: flavours are balanced, textures are vibrant, and the presentation is elegant without being pretentious.
Whether you’re sipping a glass of wine, savouring grilled lobster, or sharing a plate of oysters, the experience feels both refined and relaxed. The service is warm and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcomed – not just served.

Final Thoughts
This place is special. It brings joy, comfort, and a little escape from everyday life. If you’re in Aberdeen and want to treat yourself to delicious seafood in an atmosphere that feels like a mini-vacation, I wholeheartedly recommend Bistro Verde.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the best journeys happen not far away, but just around the corner – in places that know how to make you feel at home and on holiday at the same time.
