A prominent Ayrshire-based hospitality group has finalised a significant family management buyout, signalling a new era for the business and its future growth plans.

The company, which operates 22 venues across Scotland, has now placed its managing director in overall control following the completion of the transaction.

Founded in 1978 by a group of siblings, the business has steadily expanded its footprint, becoming well-known for its food and drink venues in coastal towns and suburbs.

The buyout, supported by funding from Alchemy, forms part of a broader succession planning strategy designed to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company.

While financial details remain confidential, it has been confirmed that the founding siblings will continue to provide guidance in advisory capacities, ensuring the company’s core values and family ethos are maintained.

The managing director expressed pride in the company’s journey and reaffirmed a commitment to continued growth, stating that the work is far from finished and that the team remains as passionate as ever about the business.

Looking ahead, the group aims to accelerate its expansion, investing in new properties and developing venues that will include accommodation as part of their offering.

The completion of the buyout is expected to provide added momentum for these ambitions, positioning the business at the forefront of Scotland’s hospitality sector.

Kenny Blair said: “A life’s work has gone into making Buzzworks what it is today, and our family couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved.

“However, our job isn’t anywhere near done and we’re as passionate about it now as we were 40 years ago.

“Along with my brother and sister, we’ve tried to stay true to our mission of making people feel great through hospitality – and that founding spirit will continue to drive us forward in this next chapter as we aim to more than double the size of the business and create hundreds of new sustainable jobs.

“This deal gives us the momentum to move further, faster – investing in people, places and new formats, including venues with rooms in more towns and suburbs across the country.“

This transition marks both continuity and evolution for the company, maintaining its family-led approach while preparing for future innovation and expansion.
