I recently had the chance to try out Caorunn Gin, and I must say, it’s been a real treat. This Scottish gin is named after the rowan berry, one of its distinctive ingredients. I decided to make two cocktails with it: the Pink Lady Spritz and The Floradorable. Both showcasing just how versatile and refreshing Caorunn can be.

When you first open the bottle, you’re greeted by floral and citrus notes with a hint of spiciness. The taste is crisp and aromatic, with a well-balanced blend of flavours that never feels overpowering. The finish is long and dry, leaving you feeling refreshed and ready for another sip.

First up was the Pink Lady Spritz, which added a touch of elegance to my evening. This crisp and vibrant cocktail is topped with a red apple garnish, not quite a rose but still added a nice touch. The citrus flavour helps bring out the subtle juniper notes in the Caorunn Gin, making it a good choice for special occasions. When I tried it, the sweetness of the Pink Lady cordial complemented the gin’s floral notes nicely, resulting in a refreshing and light drink.

To make it:

  1. Combine Ingredients: Mix 50ml of Caorunn Gin, 25ml of Pink Lady cordial (or cloudy apple juice), and 20ml of lime juice in a glass filled with ice.
  2. Top with Soda: Top the mixture with soda water.
  3. Stir and Garnish: Stir gently over ice and finish with a rolled red apple peel and a mint leaf garnish.

The Floradorable

Next, I tried The Floradorable, a twist on the classic Floradora. This one pairs Caorunn Gin with lime juice, raspberry and ginger syrup, and soda water. It was very refreshing! The warmth of the ginger complemented the floral notes of the gin perfectly, while the raspberry added a fruity sweetness. The lime juice provided a nice acidity, balancing out the drink.

To make it:

  1. Combine Ingredients: Mix 50ml of Caorunn Gin, 20ml of lime juice, and 20ml of raspberry and ginger syrup in a glass filled with ice.
  2. Top with Soda: Top the mixture with soda water.
  3. Garnish: Garnish with a lime wedge or a sprig of fresh mint.

This cocktail was incredibly refreshing and perfecting timing for coming into Spring!

Caorunn Gin is definitely a winner. Its unique blend of botanicals offers a sophisticated yet refreshing taste that works beautifully in cocktails.

Whether you’re a seasoned mixologist or just looking to try something new, Caorunn is an excellent choice.

It’s versatile, high-quality, and sure to elevate any drink into a memorable experience. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!
