ABERDEEN is welcoming the latest addition to its hospitality scene as the eagerly anticipated German Doner Kebab prepares to open its first north of Scotland branch this month.

The launch follows a funding boost from Royal Bank of Scotland which will support a £500,000 renovation of the former Molton Brown unit on Union Street.

The restaurant is set to open on 30th October and is part of a wider regeneration project to revitalise the city centre, bringing a host of employment opportunities to Aberdeen.

Headed up by brothers and business partners, Dal and Aman Khaira, the store is currently recruiting across a broad range of roles, with a total of 30 positions on offer – from part time team members to shift managers.

Dal and Aman decided to bring German Doner Kebab to Aberdeen after experiencing authentic kebabs during a visit to Berlin and being blown away by the simple yet delicious flavours.

The entrepreneurial pair already run several Pizza Hut locations across Aberdeen and Scotland and will build on their previous success with their latest venture.

German Doner Kebab’s menu is beloved among its fans, featuring a diverse range of options, including chicken, beef and vegetarian kebabs, burgers, doner spring rolls and paninis all made with the freshest ingredients.

Dal Khaira, Co-owner at German Doner Kebab Aberdeen, said: “I had my first taste of German Donor Kebab in Glasgow and knew there was an opportunity to bring its recognised taste, quality, and value to Aberdeen.

“Having been a customer of Royal Bank for over 10 years, it felt natural to work with them on this new launch. The support we’ve received from the bank throughout our business journey has been invaluable and it’s great to have them with us on the next step.

“We’re committed to finding and building the right team for the store and are currently recruiting for 30 positions across a range of experience levels.  We’d encourage anyone looking for a new and exciting opportunity to apply.”

Georgia Donald, Senior Relationship Manager, Royal Bank of Scotland said: “Appetite in the North-east for innovative businesses is booming and we look forward to seeing the latest addition to Union Street flourish.

“Dal and Aman have shown entrepreneurial grit and strength, opening various hospitality focused businesses since 2008 and weathering various storms. Throughout it all the pair have remained determined to provide the highest quality customer experience while also creating new jobs for their growing team.

“We are delighted to partner with them both as they bring a global brand to Aberdeen and help breathe life into the city centre.”
