HOT ON the heels of their relaunch of the Jam Bothy range of preserves earlier this year, award-winning spirits manufacturer Gin Bothy has announced a move to new premises in Forfar, creating additional jobs as the brand sees continued growth.
At 14,000 sq metres the site is double the size of their original premises in Kirriemuir, triples production capabilities, brings all Bothy brands under one roof, and sees the introduction of a bothy larder shop later this year.
Founded in 2015 by ‘accidental gin-maker’ Kim Cameron, the iconic brand which led the charge for Scottish and flavoured gins, will continue to operate their shop and Bothy visitor experience at Glamis, with the new premises allowing increased production of Gin Bothy, as well as Hipflask Spirits and the Jam Bothy.
Gin Bothy founder, Kim Cameron said: “With a growing team and demand for our products, our office and storage space simply needed to grow to support demand. This is an incredibly exciting move for the team as the Forfar facility gives us room to expand, create several more jobs and means we don’t have to outsource warehousing.”

The move to the former Agricar site in Forfar is a significant milestone for the brand, originally operating from a bothy kitchen in Kirriemuir, where Kim made her renowned Gin Bothy Raspberry Gin with the leftover fruit juice from the jam she made. Gin Bothy has gone on to become one of Scotland’s best known premium gin and rum brands producing over 65,000 units each year sold across the UK and exported internationally.
Kim Cameron, added: “Our Jam Bothy range has been incredibly popular with wholesale accounts throughout Scotland. The move means we are still in Angus where we source our fruit from local farmers, but it allows us to triple production and gives us the space to take fruit straight from the field to a jar of jam as we have more storage. It also means a new Bothy Larder shop with our full range across all brands will open its doors this October.
“However, what’s key is that there is more room for creativity. There are several upcoming collaborations, new flavours and products the Bothy team are working on which we’re really excited to announce later this year.”
Celebrating its 10th birthday next year, Gin Bothy, which expanded in 2021 to include sister brands Rum Bothy and Hipflask Spirits, shows no sign of slowing down after successful export deals in Switzerland, Germany and the USA.
Kim added: “I’m incredibly passionate about the role food and drink plays in the growth of the Scottish economy. Since Gin Bothy began the industry has seen exports double with gin now one of the best performing sectors.
Their visitor centre, The Bothy Experience, is in the historic village of Glamis and is open Thursday to Sunday 11-5. The range is also available online and with local stockists.
