Girvan is preparing to celebrate one of its most distinctive agricultural exports as the annual Tattie Fest returns for its fifth year, firmly established as a highlight of the local events calendar.

Taking place on Saturday 13 June at Louisa Drive from 1pm to 5pm, the free community festival will once again honour the region’s farming heritage and its famed Ayrshire Epicure potato. This year’s event will feature two large marquees, ensuring the festivities can go ahead whatever the weather.

Support for the festival continues to grow, with South Ayrshire-based Land Energy returning as a key sponsor. The company’s Communications Officer, David Bone, said the event reflects both local pride and wider industry values.

“As a South Ayrshire-based company, we are proud to support initiatives in the local area and beyond,” he said. “We are delighted to sponsor the Girvan Tattie Fest and help celebrate one of the region’s most famous exports, second only perhaps to Robert Burns himself: the Ayrshire Epicure potato.”

He added: “The Ayrshire Epicure is a symbol of changing historical patterns, innovation and sustainable industry, subjects that we see reflected in our own work. Events such as the Tattie Fest are a fantastic way of bringing communities together while showcasing the best of the area’s strong farming and culinary traditions.”

Organised by GoGirvan, this year’s programme promises a broad mix of entertainment, food and family-friendly activities. Development Officer Cath Maguire said the continued backing of sponsors has been vital in keeping the event accessible.

“GoGirvan is gearing up for Girvan Tattie Fest 2026 and, thanks to the generous support of all our supporters, including Land Energy, we are able to keep the event free of charge for all attendees,” she said.

Festivities will begin earlier in the day, with the Girvan & District Pipe Band officially opening proceedings at 11am. Visitors can then enjoy a packed schedule including a Circus in the Big Top, alpacas from Little Peru, a kite display and a silent disco. Under Sky will also return with a range of nature-based activities.

Maguire added: “Visitors can also browse a wonderful range of local craft stalls, and a selection of local refreshments will also be available on site, featuring delicious options from The Tattie Stop, Drift Coffee and Girvan Gelateria.”

Beyond the main festival site, this year’s celebrations will extend across Girvan with a fringe programme of events. The Wave will host an Open Doors session from 11am to 1pm, featuring children’s activities including a bouncy castle, tattie-themed crafts and home baking.

Meanwhile, Girvan Community Garden will continue the festivities from 1pm through to 8pm. Entry is £5 for adults, with children admitted free, and the programme will include live music, a licensed bar and a range of tattie-inspired dishes.

Land Energy, founded in 2006, has grown to become the UK’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets and briquettes, supplying low-carbon renewable fuel to homes and businesses nationwide. The company also produces a range of environmentally focused products, from pizza pellets to its fungal-based soil conditioner, Solivita.
