The introduction follows a reported surge of more than 300% in the dairy’s branded cottage cheese sales.
Graham’s Family Dairy, described by the company as Scotland’s largest independent dairy, has launched a new 0% fat cottage cheese nationwide. The introduction comes as the family dairy reports an increase of over 300% year-on-year in its branded cottage cheese sales.
The new high-protein product is now available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stores across the UK. The latest addition to the Graham’s Family Dairy range offers 18g of protein per 150g serving and contains 62 calories per 100g. Shoppers can find the new Fat Free Cottage Cheese in 300g tubs in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, and in 500g tubs in Morrisons nationwide. The dairy attributes the rise in demand for cottage cheese to a renewed interest among consumers, driven by a desire for convenient, naturally high-protein foods and its presence in social media recipes. This trend reflects a broader consumer focus on the nutritional value and versatility of dairy products.

Robert Graham, Managing Director at Graham’s Family Dairy, commented on the development: “Cottage cheese continues to see a real resurgence, and it’s exciting to see a whole new generation discovering it. People are increasingly looking for foods that are naturally high in protein, made with quality ingredients and versatile enough to enjoy in different ways, and dairy delivers on all of these fronts. Our new Fat Free Cottage Cheese gives shoppers even more choice, with 18g of protein in a 150g serving. It’s another option within our range for consumers looking for a fat-free product, while our wider range continues to offer the variety of dairy products that people know and love. We’re delighted to see the new product hitting shelves nationally in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.”
The growing consumer preference for high-protein dairy products is further highlighted by Graham’s Family Dairy’s Protein 25 Yogurt pouches, which have seen sales increase by more than 80% year-on-year. In response to the rising demand for cottage cheese, Graham’s Family Dairy recently invested £3.5 million in its production facility in Fife. This investment aims to increase capacity and supports the family dairy’s commitment to “be ahead of the curd” by expanding its cottage cheese line-up.
Robert Graham added: “Across our range, what remains consistent is our commitment to making award-winning products from fresh Scottish milk. As a family dairy, we’re proud to build on our heritage while investing in the future. We’ve significantly expanded our cottage cheese production to meet demand, while staying true to the quality and traditional methods that have been at the heart of our family’s farming business for generations.”
