1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky is marking it’s first official sponsorship agreement as it becomes the headline sponsor of the 10th annual Glasgow’s Whisky Festival.

Taking place at Hampden Park on Saturday 10th November, the festival will welcome whisky enthusiasts to explore more than 65 stands, each one highlighting the finest in whisky, plus gin, rum and more.

Glasgow Distillery is showcasing its sold-out inaugural single malt at this year’s event, with exclusive opportunities to try a dram, and the chance to register interest for future whisky releases.

Laid down in first fill ex-bourbon casks, and finished in virgin oak, 1770 delivers a full and rounded flavour from the very start. Non-chill filtered, it is bottled at an ABV of 46%.

The bottle was designed with the city’s industrial heritage in mind. Tall and angular, it uses crisp, clean lines and has been a labour of love for the distillery founders. The stunning bespoke bottles have Glasgow proudly embossed at the foot and will be sealed with a unique, locally made heavyweight copper-topped cork.

It’s not all whisky focused though – Glasgow Distillery will also showcase its award-winning range of Makar Gin, with samples of the five-strong range available to try and plenty of opportunity to buy a bottle to take home.

Glasgow’s Whisky Festival puts the city firmly on the whisky map. The event showcases whisky from throughout Scotland and the rest of the world, but in particular, celebrates Glasgow’s closest distilleries and the independent bottlers that belong to the exciting new spirits hub in the central belt.

Mike Hayward, co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery Company said: “We are thrilled to showcase our very own whisky at Glasgow’s premier whisky event. As the city’s first new independent single malt distillery in over a century, it’s important to us that Glaswegians are amongst the first people in the world to have the chance to sample this limited edition which sold out in a matter of days earlier this year.

Mark Connelly, Director of Glasgow’s Whisky Festival added: “We are thrilled that The Glasgow Distillery Co. has chosen our festival for the launch and first taste of their new 1770 whisky. When we created Glasgow’s Whisky Festival our aim was to ensure the local people and the city’s whiskies were always at the forefront of our event so this partnership, at our 10th festival, marks a huge milestone in both our festival and in whisky-making in Glasgow. Long may it continue!”
