Isle of Barra Distillers has announced exceptional growth figures for 2025 with a 24% increase in production volumes year-on-year, supported by 13.52% revenue growth.

The company’s success comes during a challenging period for the spirits sector, with premium and craft producers particularly exposed to reduced hospitality spending and cost-of-living pressures.

Michael Morrison, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Isle of Barra Distillers, said:

“2025 has been a big year for our small but mighty team as we continue to increase production, expand our offering and double our team from six to 12 full time members of staff. We launched Hebridean Honey Vodka in partnership with local honey producers, Bee Bharraigh, which has garnered strong early traction across retail and online channels. We also unveiled the first chapter of our Tales of the Tide series – a narrative-driven collection inspired by our maritime heritage and Atlantic coastal landscapes.

“We opened our first Glasgow office to support sales operations, events programming, trade partnerships and logistics – allowing the business to scale whilst keeping distillation on the Isle of Barra.”

Isle of Barra Distillers enters 2026 with ambitious plans including further Tales of the Tide releases, international expansion of Hebridean Honey Vodka and continued preparation for the opening of the new £12 million distillery at Eoligarry.

Isle of Barra Distillers was founded in 2017 by Katie and Michael Morrison. The husband and wife team are Barra natives who wanted to create a future for their family and generations to come and, in doing so, founded Scotland’s most westerly distillery.

In December 2024, Isle of Barra Distillers officially broke ground on its new distillery in Eoligarry on the Isle of Barra. The £12 million distillery will be the largest single private investment ever made on the Scottish island in the Outer Hebrides and will bring major benefits to the island’s economy and community. The distillery is scheduled to open in 2027.
