Limited edition of only 264 bottles of the Supper Sipper single malt unveiled alongside UK-wide celebrations

The world’s biggest whisky club, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), will release an exclusive single malt whisky on January 14 to celebrate Burns Night, as well as staging 12 special tasting events across the UK.

The new release, Cask No. 88.31 Supper Sipper, is a 15-year-old single malt whisky additionally matured in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead. Bottled at 56.1% ABV, the Society selected this limited edition of 264 bottles to create the perfect toast to Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns.

This is the final bottle from the Society’s Winter Series collection, following Supernaturally Sweet Smoke (released at Halloween), Merry Christmas, and Welcome In, 2025 which was released at Hogmanay.

According to the Society’s expert Tasting Panel, Supper Sipper offers a complex flavour journey, opening with deep notes of Assam tea, malted barley and caramelised orange zest.

The palate presents a decadent combination reminiscent of rocky road, featuring milk and dark chocolate, coconut and glacé cherries. When diluted, the whisky transforms to reveal sophisticated cocktail-like qualities, with hints of cranberry, maple syrup and tropical mango.

“This Burns Night release embodies our commitment to adventures in flavour and the spirit of togetherness that Burns himself celebrated,” says Euan Campbell, Head of Whisky Creation at the SMWS.

“Just as Burns’s poetry brings people together at this time of year, we see whisky fans coming together to raise a glass of this exceptional whisky.

“We’ve selected a cask that not only honours the tradition of the Burns Supper but invites our whole whisky community to explore new flavour perspectives. Whether you’re joining us at one of our special events or enjoying a dram at home, Supper Sipper is the perfect dram to raise a glass to Scotland’s poetic and whisky heritage.”

To celebrate Burns Night, the Society is hosting a series of exclusive tasting events across the UK. Venues include Aberdeen, Melrose and Inverness in Scotland, alongside locations in Manchester, Newcastle and Harrogate in England.

These special tastings have limited availability, and are open to both members and non-members, offering a unique opportunity to sample six distinctive single cask whiskies alongside a traditional Burns Supper of haggis, neeps and tatties.
