Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers (MSWD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Niel Hendriksz as its new Managing Director, taking over from Richard Bedford, who joined the business in 2023.

Joining the company in 2018 after a successful career with Moët Hennessy and Edrington through their distribution networks, Hendriksz became Sales Director in 2019.

His role in helping shape the modern identity of MSWD – from portfolio development and international market expansion – has been instrumental to the business’s growth.

“I didn’t necessarily join the business for what it was then,” recalls Niel Hendriksz. “But the long-term vision was clear and beyond what existed at the time. To now help lead that vision forward, with a team and portfolio we truly believe in, is a privilege.”

At the heart of MSWD’s operations is Aberargie Distillery, built on a family-owned farm near Perth. From the first fill in 2017, the distillery represents the Morrison family’s return to distilling after the 1994 sale of Morrison Bowmore to Suntory.

With the first release of Aberargie being anticipated for launch in 2026, this is the cornerstone of the business, and Niel will be the driving force to bring the long-awaited whisky to market.

Chairman Jamie Morrison commented: “Niel has played a pivotal role in shaping our brands and expanding our reach, and I’m delighted to welcome him as Managing Director.

“He brings energy, strategic clarity, and a strong belief in what we stand for. His leadership will be vital as we continue to build a Scotch whisky business with a long-term, global vision.

“I would like to thank Richard for his excellent contribution and he will continue to be involved in the business going forward.”
