Independent whisky makers and bottlers, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers (MSWD) has been awarded eight medals at the prestigious 2025 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), including two golds and two silver for standout expressions from its acclaimed Islay-led Mac-Talla range. Old Perth also received two silver and two bronze medals.
Judged by panels of some of the industry’s most respected palates, The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) is one of the world’s largest and oldest spirits competitions. The awards cement MSWD’s reputation for producing Scotch whisky of exceptional quality, character, and provenance across its flagship brands: Mac-Talla, Old Perth, Càrn Mòr, and the soon-to-be-released Aberargie.
The standout performer at the 2025 Scotch whisky judging results for MSWD was Mac-Talla Mara Cask Strength, which impressed judges with its balance and complexity, securing Gold with 96 points. The panel, featuring leading industry names including Dawn Davies MW, Becky Paskin, and Emma Walker, praised the expression’s vibrant nose and zesty finish.
Also taking Gold was Mac-Talla Strata 15 Year Old, awarded 95 points for its tropical fruit character and layered smoky finish. The judging panel, including Billy Abbott, Sandy Hyslop, and Portia Freeman highlighted the whisky’s “fruitcake, menthol and golden syrup” profile.
These accolades reflect Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers’ uncompromising commitment to flavour, quality, and small-batch craftsmanship. With over five generations of heritage, the Morrison family continue to push the boundaries of independent Scotch whisky, proudly delivering award-winning expressions rooted in provenance and place.
