Aberdeen’s SOBR is set to launch its most ambitious drinks offering to date, with a brand-new menu arriving this Saturday, 18 July, at its Thistle Street zero-proof bar and events space.

Titled The Functional Edit, the new menu invites guests to choose drinks based on how they want to feel – whether seeking energy, calm or an uplifted mood. The concept introduces twelve exclusive serves developed by SOBR’s in-house team, combining premium non-alcoholic spirits with functional ingredients and theatrical presentation.

Positioning itself at the forefront of Scotland’s mindful drinking movement, SOBR’s latest menu goes beyond traditional alcohol-free options, delivering a multi-sensory experience designed to engage both flavour and feeling.

Ingredients such as lion’s mane mushroom, lemon balm, butterfly pea flower and saffron feature prominently throughout the collection, which draws inspiration from the romance of travel. Presentation plays a key role, with smoked cocktails, colour-changing serves, flambé finishes and bespoke ice all contributing to an immersive drinking experience, enhanced by carefully curated garnishes.

SOBR owner Kate Kenyon said: “We are enormously proud of this new menu. More people than ever are seeking experiences that support wellbeing without compromising on flavour or atmosphere. The Functional Edit is a menu for them, offering not only cocktails that taste amazing – where you won’t miss the alcohol – but that evoke a sense of wonder, exploration and connection.”

She added: “Functional ingredients have been used for centuries to improve mood and energise. When SOBR first launched last October, we had a number of drinks on our menu which utilised these properties, but now we have taken it to a new level. We’ve refined what we do, thinking creatively about how to elevate our drinks offering and making use of new zero spirits which are coming onto the market all the time.”

The new menu will run throughout the summer, with SOBR anticipating strong interest from both returning customers and first-time visitors. The venue is also preparing to mark its first anniversary this autumn, with further announcements expected in the coming months.

Highlights from the menu include a twist on an espresso martini featuring Love Mushroom Focus Coffee, as well as SOBR’s take on a basil smash using Blue Matcha. Guests can also enhance their drinks with optional functional tonics from Brookside Botanicals’ Calm, Courage and Clarity range.
