Andy Politi to Lead Rational Healthcare Catering Demonstration

Event to highlight modern cooking technology for sector challenges

Healthcare catering professionals are invited to an exclusive Rational demonstration led by healthcare catering specialist Andy Politi. The event will take place on Tuesday 20 October at CorpAcq Stadium in Manchester, bringing together healthcare caterers, care home operators, and hospital catering teams. Attendees will discover practical solutions to some of the sector’s pressing challenges.

Andy Politi, National Operations Chef and former NHS National Development Chef, will lead the session, drawing on decades of hands-on experience in healthcare foodservice. He understands the realities of catering in these environments, which include delivering nutritious meals at scale, managing labour shortages, addressing budget pressures, and meeting evolving resident and patient expectations.

During the demonstration, attendees will see how Rational modern cooking technology can help simplify kitchen operations. This technology is designed to reduce reliance on highly skilled labour and support teams with intuitive, easy-to-use equipment. The session will also explore methods to improve productivity, shorten cooking times, and maintain consistent food quality across multiple sites.

For healthcare operators facing rising labour and food costs, Andy Politi will share practical approaches aimed at improving efficiency without compromising the dining experience. The demonstration will highlight how kitchens can maintain high standards while supporting staff, residents, and patients alike. To illustrate these benefits, Andy will prepare a selection of dishes commonly found on healthcare menus.

The prepared menu will include Chicken Jalfrezi with Chickpeas, Waste-Not Bread & Butter Pudding, Vanilla Custard, and Nutrient-Locked Steamed Vegetables. This selection has been chosen to showcase consistency, sustainability, and quality across a range of everyday healthcare catering requirements.

This event offers a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to gain insights from one of the sector’s most experienced chefs. They will also see first-hand how modern cooking systems can support their operations. The morning session is scheduled from 10:30am to 12:30pm, with an afternoon session from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. Places are limited, and advance registration is recommended on the RATIONAL website.
