Launching in both the UK and Germany, Origin 1639 Gin is inspired by a groundbreaking discovery in “The Distiller of London”, a 1639 manual unearthed by Sipsmith Master Distiller Jared Brown and drinks historian Anistatia Miller.
The couple deciphered 34 coded formulas, finding one that produced a remarkably balanced spirit of juniper berry, citrus and spice – the closest ancestor to London Dry Gin found in print.

This historic recipe, detailed in Brown and Miller’s book “A Most Noble Water: Revisiting the Origins of English Gin”, effectively rewrites gin’s origin story, proving its English roots.
Sipsmith Origin 1639 Gin faithfully recreates this centuries-old recipe using traditional 17th-century methods.
Infused with raspberries and strawberries, then rested in oak barrels, it boasts a juniper-forward profile with bright berry notes and a spiced backbone.
This limited edition not only offers a unique tasting experience but serves as a liquid testament to gin’s true heritage – a spirit as English as it was originally “gin-tended”.
