Six by Nico Aberdeen have announced their latest six-course tasting experience, and this time it’s personal! A homage to Nico Simeone’s Italian family heritage, ‘The Italian Road Trip’, showcases the delicious produce, iconic dishes and regional traditions of Italy’s gastronomic heartland.

A recent road trip saw Nico, Founder and CEO of Six by Nico, and his creative team, visiting the historic cities of Rome and Naples, as well as the village of Picinisco – Nico’s grandmother’s birthplace – to seek inspiration for the restaurant’s latest menu through personal family connections, nostalgic routes and regional delicacies.

Cooking between 10 March – 20 April, each course represents a stop on this immersive culinary journey, from the chaotic charm of Naples’ seafront, the picturesque vineyards of Picinisco, and the simple preparation of fresh, seasonal ingredients in Rome.

Nico said: “The creative process that inspired this menu was a real labour of love for me. My team and I were fortunate enough to discover a feast of fantastic dishes and exquisite flavour combinations on our travels around these centres of culinary excellence and passion.

“Of course, this journey was a very personal one, inspired by my family’s connections to the region. More than just research – it was about discovery, inspiration, friendship and reconnecting with my family history.

“Without a doubt, the most unforgettable part of our trip was visiting Picinisco, the village where my Nonna was born. It was a deeply personal and emotional experience, which revealed a side of Picinisco I had never known, a town rich with history, pride and an unwavering commitment to leaving a lasting legacy. It was a moment of connection, heritage, and joy that will stay with me forever.

“It’s particularly touching that this is the menu we are serving over the Mother’s Day weekend. The soul of Italian cuisine is family – ‘la famiglia’ –  celebrating and laughing with those we love, and enjoying good food made with passion. This aligns wonderfully with this time of year when we honour and celebrate the mother-figures in our lives.”
