Two local Aberdeenshire businesses, The Coffee Apothecary and Still Spirit, have joined forces in their first collaboration combining the highest quality coffee beans with a 12-year-old blended whisky, bringing together the much-loved flavour combination to deliver a unique limited edition Whisky and Coffee offering just in time for Father’s Day.

Udny-based whisky retailer, Still Spirit provided an empty cask from their latest whisky bottling to neighbouring business, The Coffee Apothecary to use as a vessel for resting their coffee beans.

The beans were turned daily to ensure the coffee was perfectly infused with a delicious kick of whisky character blending the warmth of the whisky, featuring notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and orchard fruits, with the depth and character of high-quality Columbian coffee.

The coffee beans were then removed from the cask, featuring new tasting notes of Christmas pudding, vanilla fudge and mixed peel and roasted at The Coffee Apothecary onsite roastery.

When asked how this collaboration came about, Daniel Milne, Still Spirit co-founder said, “Our businesses are literally next door to each other, and we’ve spent years discussing how to bring coffee and whisky together in a meaningful way. These two products are the result of that vision.”

Jonny Aspden, The Coffee Apothecary co-founder, added, “the collaboration felt like a natural pairing, we share aligned values around quality, craft and community. We think the flavour combinations are delicious and can’t wait for our customers to give it a try.”

While this is the first time The Coffee Apothecary and Still Spirit have officially worked together, Still Spirit is no stranger to local collaborations, having previously partnered with Udny-based Eat On The Green and Meat Monsters BBQ.

The limited edition coffee and whisky gift promises to bring the perfect start and end to the day for Dad’s this Father’s Day and now available to purchase from the Still Spirit website https://www.stillspirit.com/products/coffee-apothecary-gift-set
