Talisker partners with local businesses, announcing trio of exclusive experiences for ‘island awakening festival’

20/05/2024

Talisker, the oldest distillery on Skye, has announced a trio of exclusive one-off experiences, created by the distillery team working in partnership with local creatives, chefs and adventurers, to celebrate Skye’s stunning landscapes and natural larder. Each of the events have been designed to leave guests with a greater appreciation of the wonders of the island, its wild sense of adventure, and the role it plays in the creation of this world-renowned whisky.

Taste the Wild:

Presented in partnership with Skye Ghillie and the legendary Three Chimneys, guests will enjoy a guided foraging walk in the village of Carbost, followed by a whisky tasting, cocktails, and canapes at The Three Chimneys at Talisker.

The journey begins at the distillery with Mitchell Partridge, the Skye Ghillie, who will share the secrets of how to sustainably and responsibly harvest ingredients from the incredible land around Talisker Distillery. Then it is over to The Three Chimneys at Talisker, where the team will turn one of the simple foraged ingredients into an edible delight.

The day concludes with canapes and cocktails and a little recipe card to take home as a reminder of the experience.

Snapshot of Skye:

Created in partnership with Skye Photo Academy, this experience will showcase some of the most beautiful places in the surrounding area, allowing guests to capture their own special memory of the island.

A skilled professional photographer will help guests hone their photography skills, whether that be on smartphone or camera, and capture images that can be cherished forever. The experience starts and ends at Talisker Distillery, with a tasting of one cocktail and two drams bringing the day to a close.

Adventurous Spirit:

Perfect for all abilities and hosted in partnership with South Skye Sea Kayak, this experience is an opportunity to take to the water and experience the rugged coastline around the shores of Loch Harport. Paddling along the Loch in a double kayak, guests will take in unique views of Talisker and the surrounding land and seascapes that must be experienced to be believed.

Adventurous Spirit concludes back on dry land where a Talisker host will greet guests with a warming hot toddy before a guided tasting of two specially selected Talisker drams inspired by the landscape of Skye.

Leigh Aitken, Talisker Brand Home Manager said: “We’re privileged at Talisker to be able to draw inspiration from Skye itself, and work with an outstanding list of local suppliers and partners to provide unforgettable experiences for our guests. The response to The Three Chimneys at Talisker has been incredible, and we’re hugely excited to have the team involved in this special series of events.

“Our Island Awakening Festival experiences represent something truly special, and we can’t wait to see the reaction of our guests when they arrive from 20 May. We’ve worked with some of Skye’s most exciting creatives, adventurers, foragers and of course the Three Chimneys team to give an unforgettable taste of the island we’re so proud to call home.”
