Perthshire-based, Taylors Snacks, is celebrating its first full year in business, since it rebranded from Mackie’s Crisps, becoming the third largest brand in the Adult Premium Sharing Crisps category.

Since launch up until end of 2023, Taylors was worth £2.7m in value sales in Scotland, making it the third biggest premium crisps brand in Scotland. Known for their unique crisp crunch and delicious flavours, Taylors can also be found in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Morrisons, Co-op, LIDL and ALDI.

During the festive season, Taylors became the second largest brand in the Adult Premium Sharing Crisps category in Scotland, hot on the heels of Walkers Sensations.

Produced nearby the fourth-generation Taylor farm, Taylors Snacks award-winning crisps are produced in Perthshire.  The business employs 120 people and is preparing for further growth in response to significant retail and customer demand.

The brand has also experienced success overseas, with its core range hitting shelves across Canada earlier this year. Taylors crisps have also been included in Universal Yums UK snack boxes, which are shipped to their customers around the world looking for a taste of the UK.

Their range of Lentil Waves is now sold in school tuckshops in 26 out of the 27 Scottish Local Authorities as a lower salt and higher protein alternative to traditional crisps, and have proven popular with children across Scotland.

James Taylor, managing director at Taylors Snacks

James Taylor, managing director at Taylors Snacks said: “Scotland has embraced Taylors as one of its new favourite snack brands, and we couldn’t be more delighted. We were mindful of the loyal following Mackie’s Crisps enjoyed and can’t think of another Scottish brand that has done quite the same before – keeping the product identical, but changing the name, brand and packaging.

“Our ambitions remain high, and we are determined to offer our ranges to consumers around the rest of the UK. As sales in Scotland have been so strong, we are confident there is demand for our product elsewhere, and we look forward to expanding our operations to allow us to meet this.”

Taylors Snacks core crisp range of thick cut crisps include flavours such as Sea Salt, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Mature Cheddar & Onion, Pickled Onion and Flame Grilled Aberdeen Angus, Haggis and Cracked Black Pepper and Chilli Kick.

In the Ridge Cut range, Taylors is introduced two new flavours – Hot Buffalo Wings and Jalapeño & Mature Cheddar – in addition to the established flavours of Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Cheddar & Onion and Thai Sweet Chilli.

Taylors also offers a range of lighter snacks such as Lentil Waves and popcorn. The Lentil Waves flavours are Sea Salt & Vinegar, Barbecue and new flavour Red Curry, while the popcorn is Sweet & Salted, Lightly Sea Salted and Toffee coated.
