Weatherbys Private Bank has strengthened its team in Scotland with the hire of a talented whisky-blending archer.

The bank, which has ambitious plans to double in size in the next five years, has hired Edmund Harvey-Jamieson as a new senior private banker in its Edinburgh office.

Ed, who started his career with Adam & Company, was Chief Operating Officer for the NatWest Group private bank for eight years and, more recently, the senior banker for Barclays Private Bank & Wealth Management in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

He is also co-founder of the award-winning Woven Whisky company in Leith, which brings whiskies from all over the world together in a local studio to create new blends. Its projects include the world’s first 100% English blended whisky and a hybrid coffee spirit made by cutting traditional Scotch with cold brew coffee.

Ed, a chartered member of the Chartered Banker Institute, is also a longstanding member of the Royal Company of Archers, which has a ceremonial function as the King’s Bodyguard for Scotland.

He said: “I’ve been privileged to work with many amazing Scottish entrepreneurs and estate owners over the years. That inspired me to try my own hand at the whisky-blending business, which has been a serious hobby and great fun. But I still love working in banking, and to be joining Weatherbys at this point in its journey is very exciting.”

Duncan Gourlay, Deputy Head of Private Clients at Weatherbys, said: “Ed has over 25 years’ experience in the private banking world in Scotland and is also a fascinating and hugely energetic guy. Having someone of his seniority join us is evidence both of our commitment to grow the bank and of our determination to continue delivering the best service possible.”

Ed is the third banker to join Weatherbys this year, with more hires planned. He will be the fifth private banker in the Edinburgh office.
