GLASGOW’S WEST Brewery have unveiled their fun and exciting new Radler brand, VELO just in time for summer.

Originating from Bavaria, a Radler is a classic summer drink, traditionally mixing beer and lemonade. As the only UK brewery to brew all its beers in strict accordance to the Reinheitsgebot, VELO is the next step in WEST’s journey in sharing German drinking culture with UK consumers.

WEST Managing Director, Matt Munro said “VELO feels like a natural extension of our range and allows us to play with flavours that are usually out of bounds to us.”

“With studies showing that 55% of consumers are looking to moderate their alcohol intake, at 2.7% abv, our new Radlers offer a premium alcoholic drink that can be enjoyed with moderation in mind.”

‘With the word Radler meaning cyclist in German, VELO is perfectly timed to celebrate the World Cycling Championships taking place on our doorstep this year.”

With a fresh and sophisticated take on the traditional shandy, VELO Lemon is a refreshing mixture of Wild WEST, an unfiltered Helles Lager, and a zesty lemon soda, complimenting the body of the beer perfectly.

The refreshingly delicious VELO Blood Orange features Heidi-Weisse, WEST’s renowned Hefeweizen, mixed with a vibrant blood orange soda.

Both sodas were created using WEST’s own secret recipe. In keeping with WEST’s promise of purity, VELO is free from artificial colourings, flavours, sweeteners and preservatives.

VELO launches on WEST’s website for online sales at 12pm on Thursday 15th June, with the first draught available from Friday 16th June at the brewery’s Glasgow Green venue, WEST on the Green, before being rolled out to venues across Scotland from Monday 19th June.
