Zoom Drinks Delivery comes home after Cypriot success

22/08/2024

An online drinks delivery service founded by Scottish entrepreneurs in Cyprus has set-up in Glasgow, operating from its new distribution hub in Hillington.

Zoom Drinks Delivery service, which reports turnover of €6 million per annum after launching just before the pandemic, offers over 800 drinks products which can be ordered through an online app and driven directly to the consumer by Zoom’s fleet of vehicles.

The company differs from its competitors in the online delivery market as it owns all of its stock and fleet, rather than acting as a middleman for convenience stores or relying on third-party drivers, while also not charging delivery or service fees.

It has a huge selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including premium whiskies, rums and vodkas alongside craft-beer and wine – and will also be stocking some limited edition or special releases such as Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg’s ready-to-drink cans of Gin & Juice.

Zoom Drinks began trading just before Cyprus was plunged into lockdown in 2020, leading to huge demand and a surge in sales. Stocking a range of 1,800 products, it has processed over 100,000 orders since, delivering to both consumers and the on-trade as a way to resupply or store stock – and even reports sales of Scotland’s other national drink, IRN-BRU, to residents of the island.

Operating from a 6,200ft distribution centre in Hillington with a fleet of four vans, it is currently serving the majority of Glasgow and Paisley postcodes with a team of eight, as well as recruiting drivers, warehouse and sales staff.

Lee Grant, Managing Director at Zoom Drinks Delivery said: “We’re really excited to bring our business to the Scottish market, where we see a real potential for growth given the size of the customer-base and overall market trends in the region.

“Zoom offers something different in the online delivery space, starting with our premium product line, transparent pricing and a dedicated fleet which can provide large orders. Our team is in the process of speaking to potential partners in the hospitality industry, which is a significant market for us in Cyprus.

“We’ve tailored our offering for the Glaswegian consumer, providing an unrivalled array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks – essentially a specialist supplier available from the touch of an app.

“Our model actually goes against the grain of other app-oriented businesses, priding ourselves on ownership of stock, vehicles and warehouse space to the overall benefit of service provided to our customers.”
