Aberdeenshire-based KR Group, a steel and cladding company, is making significant strides with two major distillery projects, both of which are nearing completion.

These projects have collectively generated nearly £1.5 million for the firm, bolstering its reputation in distillery work, which includes upgrades and new builds.

Having previously worked on over 25 distilleries across Scotland, KR Group’s recent projects at Glenfarclas Distillery and two new contracts in 2024 have amassed significantly higher value.

The largest of these projects, valued at over £1 million, involves extensive steel and cladding work and is expected to be completed this autumn.

KR Group has managed all aspects of steel, cladding, and flat sheet metal products for this project and also provided design consultation to the client.

Additionally, KR Group has entered the second phase of work at Glendronach Distillery near Huntly.

This phase includes the fabrication and erection of structural steel and the cladding installation to extend and upgrade the existing building.

The first phase involved constructing a new steel frame boiler house with cladding, louvres, and internal stairs.

Glendronach Distillery Phase 1

In 2022, Glendronach Distillery announced a £30 million investment to expand production facilities in the Valley of Forgue, driven by a tripling in global demand since 2016.

Nicola Fraser, KR Group’s Business Director, said: “The KR Group team have now worked on around 25 distilleries across Scotland, with varying scopes of work from new builds and renovations to repairs and extensions.

“It makes me immensely proud that we have the skills and capabilities to deliver these projects for our distillery clients.

“It’s a distinguished sector steeped in Scottish history, and we feel privileged to be part of its development.”
