East Neuk Spirit Company proudly introduces the first release in the Dorchadas Washed Ashore Series—a journey into the heart of rare and exceptional rums with captivating histories.

Inspired by tales of smugglers navigating treacherous seas, caught in storms, and their precious cargo scattered across the rugged coastlines of Kincrag, this series is a tribute to the adventurous spirit of the high seas.

The Washed Ashore Series focuses on discovering rare and premium rums, distilled in their tropical origins and matured along the cold, fair shores of the UK.

Each cask brings a unique story, a flavour profile born of travels across oceans, and a maturation that harnesses both tropical warmth and the UK’s cool climate.

The first single cask to “wash ashore” is an outstanding example of the Agricole style for which the French Caribbean is renowned.

Distilled from fresh sugar cane juice, the rum boasts a distinct fruity yet funky character. Its journey began in the hot, humid climate of Mauritius, where it was matured in French virgin oak casks, leading to the rapid development of vibrant fruity notes, rich wood oils, and a flavour best described as “wine gums for adults.”

This maturation added layers of complexity to the rum’s character, offering an evolving, lingering mouthfeel that delights the senses.

Once the cask reached the UK, it was re-racked into an ex-Bourbon cask, where the cooler climate allowed for a slow, gentle finish.

This finishing process smoothed and mellowed the spirit, creating a harmonious and balanced dram that captures the essence of its extraordinary journey.

“We are thrilled to launch the Dorchadas Washed Ashore Series, starting with this exceptional single cask rum,” said Sarah Banyard for East Neuk Spirit Company.

“It’s not just about the flavour; it’s about the story behind each cask, the journey it has undertaken, and the experiences captured in every drop.”
