Hilton Glasgow has appointed Stuart Cran as its new general manager (GM), following the retirement of long-standing GM Calum Ross. Bringing over 15 years of experience in general manager roles and nearly three decades in hospitality, Stuart’s appointment marks his fourth GM role within the Hilton Worldwide group.
Stuart joins the iconic city centre location from the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro where he led the team for over nine years. His Hilton career also includes GM positions in Dundee and Edinburgh Airport, during which he has built a reputation for resilience and excellence having led hotels through numerous transformations and economic headwinds, including Covid-19. Stuart is also recognised for his commitment to team development – fostering high-performing, engaged teams and mentoring future hospitality leaders.
Speaking on his appointment, Stuart said: “Hilton Glasgow has always been an aspirational hotel for me to manage, and it’s an exciting time to join the business. With the hotel continuing to invest in its people and facilities, including the launch of two innovative new event and wellness spaces, there’s a real sense of momentum and ambition within the team to retain its spot as the leading hotel in Glasgow.
“My experience across the Hilton portfolio, including leisure, corporate and events, will support the hotel’s continued success as one of Scotland’s leading destinations for business and leisure guests. Calum has left an incredible legacy, and I’m excited to build on that with fresh energy and focus.
Reflecting on his retirement, ex-general manager Calum Ross said: “I’ve spent my entire career in hospitality, but my time at Hilton Glasgow will always hold a special place in my heart. Retirement has been on the cards for a few years, but I wanted to be sure the hotel was in good shape, with a great team behind it, before handing it over to a trusted pair of hands who will continue to build on its legacy.
