Independent speciality roastery Two Chimps Coffee has entered the ready-to-drink market with the launch of its first Nitrogen-Infused Cold Brew, developed in partnership with Loughborough-based craft drinks producer Steep Soda.
Created to challenge perceptions of canned coffee, the new product is made using 100% speciality-grade Arabica beans, with a focus on quality, traceability and flavour. The launch coincides with the Rutland roastery’s tenth anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its mission to make speciality coffee more accessible.
Unlike much of the ready-to-drink category, which often relies on lower-grade beans, added milk or sweeteners, Two Chimps Coffee has taken a different approach. Its nitrogen-infused cold brew is crafted using a single-origin Rwandan coffee, selected after extensive testing of roast profiles and brewing techniques.
The chosen coffee, The Flute-Playing Fruit, is a medium-dark roast from Isano Lot 1 in Mbare, Rwanda, scoring 85.25 on the Speciality Coffee Association scale. It is slow-extracted in cold water over several hours to produce a naturally sweet, low-acidity profile, before being infused with nitrogen to create a smooth, creamy mouthfeel without dairy or additives. Tasting notes include dark chocolate, sweet dates and caramelised cola.

Andy Cross, Co-Founder of Two Chimps Coffee, said: “We didn’t want to launch just another canned coffee. We wanted to create something that speciality coffee drinkers would be excited about. Every decision started with the coffee itself – finding a bean that would still express its character when brewed cold. Working with the brilliant team at Steep Soda allowed us to create a ready-to-drink coffee that stays true to everything speciality coffee stands for.”

Each can is produced using fully traceable, single-origin coffee roasted by hand at Two Chimps’ independent roastery before being brewed and canned in the UK. The nitrogen infusion process delivers a velvety texture typically associated with milk-based drinks, while remaining entirely dairy-free.
Laura Shead, Co-Founder of Two Chimps Coffee, added: “For us, speciality coffee has always been about quality, traceability and flavour. We wanted to show that those same values could exist in a can. This isn’t a shortcut to good coffee, it’s simply another way to enjoy genuinely speciality coffee wherever you are.”
The Nitrogen-Infused Cold Brew is available in 250ml cans, sold individually or in packs of six and 12 via selected wholesale partners and direct from the Two Chimps Coffee website. The first production run sold out within a week of launch, with the next batch expected to be available at the end of July.
